039: Jigglypuff
Here, we got Jigglypuff. Something of a counterpart to Clefairy, to a point where it also adopted the Fairy type in Gen 6. Again, this ends up making the whole mascot situation weird, because instead of Clefairy winding up being a secondary mascot, we actually got Jigglypuff to fill in for that sort of role. A recurring Pokemon in the anime for quite some time, and a slot in Smash Bros, and it has been featured in the secondary games a lot more and got more merchandise, as far as I'm aware. Dang, Clefairy got ripped off.
040: Wigglytuff
Wigglytuff's a bit of the same thing as Clefable though; just its previous stage but a little bit bigger. I like that it picks up rabbit-like ears. It doesn't seep into the unintentional creepy territory as badly as Jigglypuff either. Neither of these two have a ton going for them other than being easy cute-appeal. Innocuous, but not interesting enough to hold conversations about unless it involves the one from the Mystery Dungeon series.
