Corphish is such a funny little guy. While it's a little funny to see a crawfish Pokemon before a lobster Pokemon, a crawfish is just as well. Corphish's adorable, vacant expression just gives it such a silly demeanor that makes it very lovable for how simple it is.
Crawdaunt is mostly the same picture, just a little darker and cooler to match up with its new Water/Dark typing. The extra-menacing pinchers and inclusion of an extra pair of arthropod-y arm is neat. And of course, sunk-in eyes are a treat whenever they're a thing. Just the thing that breaks the design a bit is how kinda scattered it is.
It has a big star on its forehead, which feels out of nowhere and like it doesn't serve any visual gimmick. It just feels like a non-sequitur feature, and some just plain spines would've been neater. Then it has random blue stripes on its chest, which is equally a bit nonsense. THEN it has monster feet, which is far from the worst of our issues with it, but we can't help but lament an arthropod being notably less arthropod, so we honestly would've taken a safer, spiky leg approach.
It's hard to outright dislike Crawdaunt because a funny crawfish is a funny crawfish, but it just feels like they could've done better with this one.
Honestly I like its monster feet. The look of all its limb pairs looking completely different is cool asf, and its more interesting than just a bigger corphish.
