128: Tauros

Man, it feels weird riding off the highs of Magmar and Pinsir only for them to be followed up by Tauros. Tauros definitely feels like it's here as a bit of filler. It's a bull, and that's kinda all there is to it. It has three tails and that's all that's setting it apart. It's otherwise played so straight that it almost feels like it belonged in the early game when we were just covering fairly regular birds and rat creatures. It doesn't really even have the benefit of say, Krabby, which was also something of a "just a stylized animal" Pokemon, because Tauros isn't even all that stylized, really. Just played as straight as straight can be. It just leads to it feeling fairly underwhelming. I suppose Tauros is there for anyone that appreciates a no-nonsense design, that just fails to do anything for me, personally.
