Let's Talk About Pokemon - Sentret and Furret

I've heard of painting a target on your back, but this is ridiculous.

161: Sentret

Sentret more or less starts the trend that each generation will have an equivalent to Ratatta in it. Just like Ratatta, Sentret is a down-to-earth and fairly easy to digest design to ease you into the game. It does have one little quirk in that it stands on its tail to keep lookout, which combines a bit of meercat with its raccoon-esque features. It otherwise doesn't have a ton going on. A respectable regional rodent.

162: Furret

Furret is a weird one. Furret in particular has ascended to a sort of memetic admiration by the fanbase due to a simplistic design, overall innocent demeanor, and a funny walk cycle. It isn't hard to see why, Furret appeals in the same way a video of someone's pet ferret doing something cute does. And perhaps a combination of that and its longness juxtaposed against its rather stubby limbs make for a nice attractive design for the masses. Something Pokemon Company was sure to capitalize on once it was evident Furret became one of the fandom's new favorites.

Furret itself however, is so basic that it's almost absent of description. It's long and fuzzy, and it has stripes. Just like you'd probably expect out of a fuzzy long thing. In fact, it even misses out on an aspect Sentret had, which was the whole standing-on-tail thing, which is completely absent here. So Furret's design just doesn't have a ton of substance to speak of, even less so than its already pretty basic prevolution. Sadly, Furret ends up being something that's cute, but nothing special.

...That said, I'm not immune to Furret.
