Let's Talk About Yu-Gi-Oh! - LaLa Li-Oon

 Entry 012: LaLa Li-Oon Forecast

Thunderrrr, rain and lightning...

Li-Oon is a simple monster concept that I've seen at least a dozen times; what if cloud monster? And while I say as far as mean thunder-shooting cloud monsters go, I do prefer the beautiful simplicity of Kracko from the Kirby series, but there's certainly something neat about the approach here where Li-Oon is a fairly grounded rendition of a cloud with nothing making it obviously monster-esque other than a pair of sinister, peering eyes looking down from the darkest shadows of said cloud.

While the thunderbolt horns look slightly silly, I think they add just a splash of unique-ness Especially since most cloud monsters tend to be, well, clouds with faces and little else.

Dangerrrrr, water rising...

Its recolor, oddly enough, seems to be a de-powering, with it now being a mere raincloud. In fact, I find it odd this one is so much stronger than its lightning bolt-firing brother. Design-wise, I think this one could've looked better if they changed the face to be more dreary and sad looking, to reflect its rainy nature, but as-is it's a fair enough redo.

Personal Score: 6.5/10
