I consider "four-eyes" a compliment.

234: Stantler

Maybe it's just the Wyrdeer review speaking but we could've sworn we talked about Stantler already. Either way, this little nobody of a deer used to be one of the most forgotten Pokemon out there, until it got an evolution just now. Stantler though is a nice understated deer design; once again Gen 2 acting like an expansion pack for Gen 1 to include animals that were huge missing holes in the original Pokedex.

Stantler's design mostly has a couple cool tidbits. Notably, we actually kinda like that huge shnoz it has, very much feeling like the slightly exaggerated face of a reindeer, looking quite adorably grumpy. Second, it has its signature antlers, which have the appearance of giant eyes between the shape and the odd sphere in the middle. Having a deer with antlers acting as eyespots is a genuinely really cool idea! It's just a shame it doesn't really go one step further with it, the most it has going for it being knowing the move Hypnosis. It feels like a Pokemon that should've been Psychic type, which is probably why they gave that type to Wyrdeer.
