Le oink

915: Lechonk

Instead of a traditional Normal-type rodent to greet us, we have a normal type pig? Was Wooloo a test run to switch things over to common Normal-type ungulates? We still have a Normal-type rodent if that's your bag, but it comes in so late that we're puzzled if it counts or not.

Speaking of Wooloo though, Lechonk is a lot like a Wooloo. Cute but not exciting. It has the amusing name and the ears that go over its eyes in an adorable way. It gets a little yellow residue below its eyes like it's eye crust or something, but other than that it's a basic black piggie. It leaves a funny impression, as evident with how memed it briefly was when it was first revealed. But it's fairly standard fare for earlygame Pokemon. Cute but inoffensive.

916: Oinkologne

Oikologne gets to be the generation's obligatory "mon with a blatant difference between male and female", with the males going for an all-black look with hot pink while females emphasize the brown. Males also get a little bulb thing on their tail while the female gets a three-fingered little appendage. Up there with Unfezant as one of the more tasteful shows of sexual dimorphism in a Pokemon!

There seems to be a bit of an emo culture thing going on, with the way its ear goes over its eye looking a bit like side-swept bangs, but who knows if that's the intention. Either way, there's seemingly a romantic attraction thing going on. On top of being pretty for pigs, it gets its name from how the males apparently squirt a pleasant pheromone from their tail to smell nice.

The female form is mostly the same, but with more of a three-fingered tail going on, and it apparently creates a more flowery scent. We think these mons are supposed to be turning pig stereotypes on their heads, pigs are actually way more sticklers for cleanliness than pop culture would have you believe. They get that reputation from their habit of rolling in mud, but that's just how they cool off!

They're plenty safe as designs, but that's hardly a surprise for earlygame 'mons like this.

Personal Score: 6/10
