The region, very strangely, has a couple of Pokemon that could fit the bill for "common bird", neither line quite fulfilling it completely. Squawkabilly here is a Normal/Flying type like you'd figure, but it's strangely by itself with no evolution to speak of. Feels very Gen 2 in how much it's a Pokemon that's almost JUST here to be Pokedex filler.
Not that that's a bad thing, mind you. Squawkabilly here is clearly meant to be some kind of small-to-medium-sized parrot, like a parakeet or cockatiel. Probably most likely the monk parakeet, a parrot that's actually an invasive species in Spain. They even come in the same colors Squawkabilly does. It comes with a funky pompadour, which feels like a touch of cockatiel for good measure.
Speaking of the pompadour, its name is a pretty obvious play on "rockabilly", an early type of rock-and-roll music usually associated with the southern United States. It even comes with a plumage that resembles a big leather jacket to complete the fashion association.
It also gets one of the more creative applications of the "Intimidate" ability. As you probably already know, parrot birds usually have very loud, screechy voices. Parrot screaming is actually one of their better intimidation tactics, as screaming at the top of their lungs can deter predators with sensitive hearing. Neat!
Squakabilly ain't here to do much, at least nothing but be here to fill out some of Pokemon's gaps in biodiversity. And y'know what! It's good at doing just that.
