950: Klawf

Pokemon's no stranger to crab Pokemon by now, so it feels strange to get one that is arguably even more crabby than, well Krabby. Klawf's got the orange exoskeleton, almost the right amount of limbs, and almost perfectly crab-shaped. Right down to having eyestalks, which even Krabby, the Pokemon whose whole gimmick was that it was a crab, lacked.

Klawf, however, is a neat idea for a giant man-sized terrestrial crab. It's a Rock-type Pokemon that hides on cliff faces with its rocky carapace facing outward. With eyestalks able to look in any direction, it can spot potential prey and jump down to ambush them. Which is a fun take from the perspective of hypothetical ecology.

I just feel like Klawf, unfortunately, doesn't really do enough to set it apart from other crab or crab-adjacent Pokemon, visually. It's got tufts of rocky fuzz, especially the ones that give it a cartoon mustache that feels like it turns up a lot of Japanese cartoon characters. Other than that, yeah! It's a crab. A goofy crab that we enjoy the energy of and just the mere fact that it exists. But it's a crab nonetheless.
