108: Lickitung

Lickitung is a curious Pokemon. We're getting into a bunch of Pokemon that embody concepts more than they do any direct inspiration for a creature, and it's something I wish modern Pokemon did a little more often. While you can draw parallels between Lickitung and some lizards, it's more or less a creature that is based on the concept of tongues in general, while not being a tongue itself.

Design-wise its main features are how pink it is, and of course, that big floppy tongue. Lickitung embodies a tongue so well because it's covered in smooth and round shapes, and its tail looks a little bit tongue-like as well, even if it far from acts like one. It's got some yellow here and there to break up the monotony. The one critique I'd give it is my usual shpiel of how I probably would've gone one step further to emphasize its tongue-ness. Maybe make it a bit longer and remove its arms since it seems to prefer using its tongue as if an arm anyway. But that's just me.
