As a fellow curly hair haver, I know the feeling, Tangela.

114: Tangela

Ah, Tangela, a weird little mystery creature that wears, grows, or maybe even just IS a massive tangle of plant vines. I do love Tangela's overall idea, especially as a little creature so enraptured in shadow that you'd never get a close look at its face. At least, I headcanon that the blackness is just a dark overshadow and not its actual face.

That said, the only thing I'm not so hot on is Tangela's little red booties. The color COULD pass, but I'm overall not too sure about how they feel just structure-wise, because they look a lot more like something Tangela is wearing and not an actual part of Tangela's body. As cute as a tiny plant critter wearing rain boots is.

Tangela's also overall a Pokemon that definitely felt like it was in need of an evolution, probably why they gave it one twice, technically, between the Gold Beta evolution it had that was cute and later Tangrowth. Not even just because its stats were a little lacking, but just because Tangela's just begging for an evolution where it's just an even bigger pile of vines.

But either way, Tangela's definitely one of those designs that is as adorable as it is simple to a point where it's tough NOT to love in some capacity. Its little eyes are just the cherry on top. As simple as they are, just being white circles with dots, they still add to the thing's charm a lot.
