182: Bellossom

Bellossom is, somehow, a split evolution off of Gloom. How can you tell? Hell if I know! I feel like had Bellossom been a Pokemon on its own with no evolutionary ties to any Gen 1 Pokemon, I'd be able to take it a lot better, but really? Did Gloom really need a split evolution, and at that, a split evolution that takes everything to like about Gloom away from it? No drool, no saddened demeanor, just. A peppy hula dancer? Why?

Its original coloration at least had a color consistent with the rest of the family to it, but by the time they redrew artwork for it, It was changed to be green for some reason. Which is only an even further downgrade, because at least Bellossom's dull black-ish blue made the rest of its colors pop and look even more vibrant by contrast. Changing its color to green just melds the whole thing together and makes it stand out less. And maybe had this still been its modern color, I'd have given it a 6 at least, but that's not the design reflected in the games anymore, so...
