What came first, the chicken or the egg? The answer is "yes".

175: Togepi

Remember when Togepi was HYPER exciting? Back in the day, is was among the first of the Generation 2 Pokemon to be shown, appearing in the anime second only to Ho-oh in the first episode. Togepi felt like such a big deal, being a Pokemon that we'd never seen before appearing alongside the main cast. It feels like the thing spent an eternity in that egg, but it was actually only four episodes. Sure, that's a month in real-time, but dang. It felt longer than that. Either way, it blew the minds of many when it finally did hatch. It's a Pokemon completely unseen before! What was it?! You can't find that in the games!! What gives?!

But onto Togepi itself, its design is a lovely little "thing." I think the line is overall meant to be something of a bird fused with an egg, and I think it is about the best you could've gotten from the idea. The egg pattern on its body is also nice, looking all Easter-ey. It's a Pokemon that totally just exists to show off the new Egg feature, but it's still a neat Pokemon to do it with.

176: Togetic

Togetic's not an overly exciting Pokemon either, but it's still quite cute. I kinda like that its stomach pattern is identical to the egg. It's like of like the egg “imprinted” onto the Togetic as it grew up and evolved. I do like how it tries to encapsulate the concept of "egg" as a creature, but doesn't intrude on Chansey's territory at all. That's pretty neat! There's otherwise not a ton else to comment on Togetic about, other than is a pleasant creature and I respect it a-plenty.
