Let's Talk About Pokemon - Swinub and Piloswine

Voted most boopable snoot

220: Swinub

It's impressive sometimes how simplistic a Pokemon can be and yet it gets across exactly what kinda animal it's going for. Swinub is little more than a hairy blob with a pig nose and a sleepy face, more than enough to hint that they're going for a baby wild boar here. One of the few Ice types to not have any obvious icy bits on it, or even be blue or white for that matter. The context clues that it's hairy and fat, therefore a tundra dweller, is enough to make its Ice/Ground typing make sense, though.

Swinub itself is simply adorable too, just LOOK at it. All sleepy and fat and fuzzy. Looks like one of the squishiest mammalian Pokemon in the series, even. Easily one of the most precious Pokemon out there. It's like a Kirby enemy that got lost and wandered into Johto.

I think it looks more like a puma

221: Piloswine

While we don't like it as much as Swinub, Piloswine is still up there as an adorable little guy. Somehow maintaining the "blobby, hairy boar" look and just emphasizing it with just making it look a bit like a lump. Its sleepy eyes now being covered with its access fuzz, which is always an appreciated design trope in this house. Its inclusion of floppy, dog-like ears is even kinda funny!

Piloswine is probably one of the most ideal evolutions out there, cause it happens sadly way too often that an appealing unevolved form becomes less interesting than its grown up self just because Gible's dopey form has to become a badass to fulfill that psuedo-legendary quota. Swiney here just emphasizes what makes Swinub so great, so that the appeal is never lost. Its only con is just not being quite AS sickeningly cute as Swinub.

Also we enjoy how its name is quite literally just "pile of swine". Adorable.

Personal Score: 8/10
