Let's Talk About Pokemon - Meditite and Medicham

Stinky hat

307: Meditite

It feels like the Pokemon with "opposite" typings aught to be almost universally fun, but the Psychic/Fighting Meditite just. Ain't doing it for us. The meditation theme feels like a good fit for a Psychic/Fighting type, but Meditite feels rather generic since by now we've already got several humanoids in both types, especially fighting. The weird little onion-shaped head and round monkey-like ears are the one eye-catching point but there's not really a central design theme for them to serve as far as we're aware, so they're kinda just there.

308: Medicham

Medicham's big poofy pants and slim figure is a LITTLE better, but nothing else is really doing it. Like, again with the awkward squared fingers on a design otherwise evoking round and curvy shapes. The head is also got some nonsense shapes going on, though at least looking like a "hat". Medicham just feels like a repeat of Hariyama, but not AS bad. Just no matter how we look at it, Medicham just feels like an awkward design that could've used another pass in peer-review.

I have a Bomberman on my head

Mega Medicham:

Being real, we COMPLETELY forgot Medicham had a Mega form until we were loading the images for this review. The idea of this Pokemon projecting astral arms is a neat extension of the theme, but the arms look just as awkward as base Medicham's so it just kinda ruins it and now they look more like flowing ribbons. The turban is also a weird addition. Like it shouldn't be so overt, yet, here it is, extremely obviously a turban. Yeah, eh. Not fans of these guys.

Personal Score: 4/10
