351: Castform

Another curious one-off, Castform is one of the first of what will eventually be many Pokemon with gimmicky form-switches. Castform starts out as a tiny little cloud critter that is plain Normal type, and it's cute enough. We THINK it's meant to look like it's wearing goggles, but it ends up looking more like a Sonic the Hedgehog mono-eye. And what looks like a nose is actually its mouth. Castform's just out here confusin' everybody.

As mentioned, Castform also comes with three alternate forms based on whether it's raining, hailing, or sunny in-battle, becoming Water, Ice, or Fire type respectively. The membrane helmet is a cool effect and it's overall a cute idea, so it's hard to not at least appreciate Castform for trying something there. It's just sadly one of those Pokemon that exists for a gimmick and nothing else.
