352: Kecleon
352: KecleonChameleons are one of, if not the weirdest reptile out there, being one of those animals that frankly already feels like it was made by a Pokemon designer. It's a shame that Kecleon then, while having a lot of obvious chameleon energy, is sadly not quite there in a couple ways. It has the curly tail, long tongue, and ability to change colors on a whim. But it's missing the telescoped eyes and pincer-shaped digits. As usual, replaced with rather normal-looking eyes and claws. That's always been one of the more disappointing aspects of Kecleon. It's a Pokemon that could've gotten by on just being a cartoon animal and little else, but by removing a couple of the chameleon's weirder features, it ends up being less interesting to look at than the animal it's based on.
Not that Kecleon is bad of course, it's still a plenty competent design with a fun tropical animal feel to it. We just can't help and cross our fingers for either a new evolution or just a new chameleon Pokemon outright to just, be a better chameleon Pokemon.
I actually quite like kecleon's design, though yeah it could definitely be more interesting. My main gripe with it though, is that it's weak asf. I made the grave mistake of using it in alpha sapphire, and I even brought it with me to the league... Saying my swampert, latias and kyogre carried it would be an understatement. I couldn't agree more on it needing an evolution 😅
ReplyDeleteIt's always FELT like a Pokemon that should've gotten a new evolution by now. It's even got little vestigal wings like it's raring to be a Dragon type but it's just sadly never gotten one.
