187: Hoppip
Hoppip is another simple one. Little more than a cat thing with a weed on its head, I don't find a ton to grasp onto other than its peculiar typing and method of flight. This Grass/Flying type could've used those dandelion leaves like wings, but instead, they behave more like helicopter blades somehow. It's just that little bit extra that keeps the thing from being totally mediocre.
188: Skiploom
Skiploom becomes a full-grown flower and now uses its wings as something of a parachute while its flower continues to rotate. I do appreciate that these three are more "whatever" kind of animals; not anything in particular. But at the same time the critters they are just aren't all that interesting at least on their own. They're there for the fans that like cute-appeal Pokemon and they're probably really good at that, I'm just being a spoil-sport as usual.
Jumpluff has a bit more going on for it at least. The end of a dandelion's life is when it releases all of its flying seeds, and interpreting that as a Grass/Flying type is pretty neat. Especially neat that in the case of Jumpluff, the dandelion plant ITSELF is flying! The only thing I feel like it's missing is a rotating bit that keeps it airborne, somehow, since that seemed to be a running thing with this line. I can grant that back then, Gamefreak probably wasn't overly concerned with how these things would look in motion for the game since, well, they wouldn't be in motion at all.
